Lanzarote Airport's Massive €327 Million Makeover: What to Expect (2026)

Lanzarote Airport is set to undergo a massive transformation with a €327 million renovation project, funded by the Cabildo and the state. This significant investment will not only enhance the airport's operational capacity and service quality but also future-proof its infrastructure for sustained growth. The project aims to create a new architectural symbol for the island, with a unique roof design that respects and incorporates the local aesthetic. The scope of the work extends beyond the passenger terminals, including a substantial expansion of the aircraft parking apron. Key improvements will be made to check-in areas, security, and passport control, along with enhanced passenger comfort through enlarged boarding waiting areas and additional gates. The baggage claim area will also be expanded, and the project will maintain a dedicated area for inter-island flights. This investment dwarfs previous funding rounds, with a total of €1.8 billion scheduled for airports across the Canary Islands between 2027 and 2031.
